Half Dome at Sunset

Half Dome is an icon in Yosemite National Park made famous by the black and white photographs of Ansel Adams, many of his works were done in the 1930"s.  This is my rendering of Half Dome at last light at sunset.  I photographed it with the Merced River in the foreground in April of 2019. It can be viewed in large size on my website in the Yosemite Gallery.

Here's How Half Dome Formed. "The Granite Source. Half Dome, like the other granite exposures in Yosemite, formed from so-called “intrusions” of magma—molten rock—that solidified underground to form massive granite bodies."

Many hikers attempt to ascend to the peak which is quite difficult and not without risk.
